Native to the coasts of the northwest Pacific Ocean, Undaria pinnatifida– otherwise known as wakame – is a brown seaweed containing the xanthophyll fucoxanthin, which has shown to help burn fatty tissue.
Originating from the Himalayas in northern India, Punica granatum (pomegranate) is being cultivated throughout the Mediterranean region. Pomegranate seed oil is rich in antioxidants and polyphenols and is known to lower cholesterol.

Pre-clinical studies demonstrate Xanthigen®‘s mechanism of action. It prevents new lipid formations by inactivating key proteins involved in fatty acid and colesterol synthesis. Xanthigen® promotes the fatty acid breakdown via inactivation of AMPK, a protein involved in the energy metabolism and supression of fat cells generation (adipogenesis).
It was furthermore demonstrated, that at the metabolic level Xanthigen® improves liver function and lowers the accumulation of liver fat. Basal-low levels of systemic inflammation were reduced, possibly leading to a positive effect on metabolic stress response. Additionally, a reduction in blood pressure was confirmed, an effect closely associated with anti-obesity properties.
Our peer-reviewed, double-blind, placebo-controlled human clinical trial included 151 participants, receiving a hypocaloric diet for 16 weeks and 600 mg of Xanthigen® per day. The results showed an increase in daily energy expenditure rate of 400 calories and a weight loss of 6% to 7% of the body weight baseline compared to the subjects treated with placebo.
In addition, subjects consuming Xanthigen® showed a notable reduction in liver fat and adipocyte tissue fat mass, leading to the improvement on body composition.
